What is a journal club? A journal club is a group of individuals who regularly meet to critically discuss and evaluate recent articles from academic literature, fostering a collective effort to stay current with research and promote critical thinking.

In these semi-private workshop sessions with Sara Lee, participants will cover 6 topics over the course of three weeks, in addition to personalized instruction.

Topics covered: 

• The state of teaching grammar and writing in schools today

• The difference between grammatical form and grammatical function

• Understanding noun phrases, verbs, and predicate phrases

• Sentence diagramming

• Combining sentences and clauses

• Word form charts

Three 1hr sessions per week

Mondays 4:30 - 5:30 pm Eastern

Maximum group size: 3

Minimum group size: 2

Cost: $150

• Teaching SWI’s Four Questions Framework to students

• How to help students with scientifically investigating words

• Understanding common misconceptions and working through them

• What routines and visuals help students understand how words are spelled

• Using standards and curriculum materials to plan word study instruction

• Assessment and progress monitoring ideas
